Overview

This bulletin aims to keep practitioners, researchers, policymakers, and others interested in cellular agriculture informed about the latest advancements in the field.

It will feature high-level reviews of topics related to cellular agriculture, summaries of specific technologies or scientific bodies of knowledge, and an emphasis on their practical applications. Discussions on policy at all levels will be an integral component, aimed at fostering progress within the cellular agriculture sector. Additionally, the bulletin will spotlight relevant social science research, including techno-economic analyses (TEA) and approaches aligned with the circular economy.

We also welcome brief opinion pieces that highlight emerging directions or identify gaps in knowledge or technology within the field.

Aims and Scope

The primary aim of this bulletin is to serve as a comprehensive resource for individuals engaged in cellular agriculture, offering insights that bridge theory and practice. Our scope encompasses a broad range of topics, including but not limited to:

- Technological innovations in cellular agriculture.
- Policy implications and developments at various regulatory levels.
- Social science research related to the field, including sustainability considerations.
- Contributions that advocate for ethical and responsible practices in cellular agriculture.
- Opinion pieces that provoke discussion and exploration of uncharted territories within the sector.

For the purpose of this bulletin, cellular agriculture is defined as the production of food and other agricultural products using cultured microbial, algal, plant, insect, or animal cells, typically within bioreactors. These so-called "cell factories" can generate proteins, fats, and other ingredients for food and feed, addressing climate, disease, and ethical production challenges.
